Sunrise plans to release the animated adaptation of Gundam Unicorn (expected for this winter) simultaneously in the world via the Internet. The initial intention of Bandai Namco to release its Gundam series all over the world then seems to extend to the most recent works.

Py attention to the fact that the link to this website has replaced the one leading to the 30th anniversary on Gundam.info. So, is the Unicorn anime the work that will commemorate this anniversary ?

A prototype Mobile Suit developped under the “UC project” in the secret base of Anaheim Electronics for the Earth Federation Forces. His characteristics are his pure white armor and horn. Nickname : Unicorn. This unit hides a secret that will change the future of mankind.
In order to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Bandai Visual will release on August 25 a compilation of all the openings and endings used in the Gundam series and OVAs : the Gundam OP/ED COLLECTION. This compilation will be divided into two volumes, available on the same day for 3000 JPY each.

From today to July 23, Yahoo! Japan will offer every week a video revealing the backstage of the building of the life-sized statue of the RX-78 Gundam.
The first episode, heading “For the next step“, presents the beginning of the project. From the question of the step to jump over to commemorate the 30th anniversary to the press conference where Bandai Namco announced this large-scale project. Next week : the internal frame.
To view those video clips, you will need Silverlight (available on Yahoo! Japan’s page). Piece of advice : view it in 300K (button in lower right corner) if you can’t load it.
[Update] The Gundam 30th anniversary official website has published two photographs on the occasion of the opening of the building site to the journalists.

[Update] According to Kouryaku no kan, Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Harutoshi Fukui reveal in an interview (appeared in the Gundam Ace) that the storyboard of the “episode one” is already done. Subsequently, Gundam Unicorn would be adapted in a series.
As an advertisement announced the anime adaptation (the movie mentioned by Sunrise in Italy or something else ?) of Gundam Unicorn for this winter (2009), the last issue of the Gundam Ace delivers information and images about this project :
