Tomeo Midorikawa, sixty-two years old and manager of a ramen store in Kagamiishi (Fukushima Prefecture, Japan) has built a ten meters heigh statue called “Great”.
Four years ago, he decided to build it aiming for health maintenance. But his initial plan to make a Gigantor (Tetsujin 28) or Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom) statue has been bothered by the rotundity of these two. He then saw a Gundam figure on a near store’s display and chose to build the actual robot instead.
However, “Great” is not over yet and its builder is planning to provide it with a movable arm to hold its famous beam rifle.

The North American distributor Bandai Entertainment has announced at its New York Comic Con panel on Saturday that it acquired “all” manga based on Sunrise’s Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime series. It will begin releasing Ōto Taguchi’s main Gundam 00 manga in August. It will also release Koichi Tokita’s Mobile Suit Gundam 00F spinoff and the light novel series at dates to be announced later.

The North American distributor Bandai Entertainment has clarified with ANN after New York Comic Con on Monday that it acquired Kōzō Ōmori’s Mobile Suit Gundam 00 manga adaptation from Kadokawa’s recently launched Kerokero Ace magazine. It did not acquire Ōto Taguchi’s manga of the same name from Kodansha’s defunct Monthly Magazine Z magazine. Bandai Entertainment also confirmed that it does have the licenses for Koichi Tokita’s Mobile Suit Gundam 00F manga spinoff and Noboru Kimura’s light novel series — both are from Kadokawa.
